Immanuel Wallerstein (1930-2019): Amerikan akademia’sının yüz akı, Marksizm’in hasmı

Son yıllarda Türkiye solunda ve Kürt hareketi içinde büyük bir popülariteye kavuşan Amerikalı sosyal bilimci Immanuel Wallerstein 1 Eylül’de hayata gözlerini kapatalı beri, soldan birçok ses onu göklere çıkarıyor. Gerek Türk solunda  gerekse Kürt hareketi içinde Sovyetler Birliği ve Çin’in çökmesinden bu yana ortaya çıkan Marksizmden uzaklaşma eğilimleri göz önüne alınırsa bunu anlamak mümkün. Anlaşılması zor olan, Marksizme sahip çıkan bir dizi arkadaşımızın da Wallerstein’in sosyal bilimine ve dünya görüşüne sahip çıkması. Herkese hak ettiğini vermek gerek.

The frontiers of that extensive monarchy were guarded by ancient renown and disciplined valor. The gentle but powerful influence of laws and manners had gradually cemented the union of the provinces. Their peaceful inhabitants enjoyed and abused the advantages of wealth and luxury.
